At its worst, The Lake District is a nightmare made up of all that is wrong with humanity and how we continue to engage with the natural world. At its best (usually outside of the school holidays) it is a heaven of sorts, made up of all that is right with humanity and how we continue to engage with the natural world. Whichever version you stumble upon, take your rubbish with you, don’t use disposable bonfires, keep your dogs on a lead, and don’t talk with your mouth full.
